Product Information

Exotic delight to lift any British garden with a feel of the tropics! Flamboyant sorbet-pink and ice-white blooms emerge across late-spring to early-summer, later followed by mouth-watering fruit. Plus, this big and impressive plant is delivered to you already at least 1.5m tall, for instant impact!

This South American native is equipped to thrive in UK gardens, with flowers that are rich in a sweet nectar that is particularly loved by butterflies and bees.

What’s more, the Pineapple Guava is not just a beauty to look at, as it produces autumnal egg-shaped fruits that are delicious, with succulent flesh similar to kiwi, but smoother in appearance. Either eat these fruits fresh after picking from the plant or bake them into pies or crumbles for an extra special treat.

The blooms and fruits emerge and grow from a shrub of evergreen foliage with rich green leaves. These shrubs remain attractive and coated in colour regardless of the season. Easy to grow, this variety is even suited to larger pots or planters for the patio.

This mature Pineapple Guava is hardy down to -5C and will arrive close to its eventual mature height.

Supplied as an established plant, roughly 150-175cm tall, in a 15L pot.

Please note: Delivery may take up to 14 days for this product. The approximate listed height of this variety and dimensions of the supplied nursery pot are subject to change on delivery, depending on seasonal conditions.

Care Information

Planting Advice for your Acca sellowiana

  • If planting outside, choose a sheltered site that is protected from cold winds.
  • Water your potted plant well.
  • Dig a hole a little deeper and three times the width of the nursery pot.
  • Add a soil conditioner such as well-rotted manure to the earth removed from the hole if necessary.
  • Remove the plant from its pot and tease out a few of the roots.
  • Place your plant in the hole at the same level at the pot.
  • Refill the hole with the earth removed (backfilling).
  • Firm in the soil with your heel, avoiding the root ball.
  • Water well and mulch around the base of the plant with a collar, compost, gravel, bark etc.

Pineapple Guava Aftercare

  • Plants can withstand temperatures down to -5C so are hardy through most of the UK.
  • Feijowa may suffer damage in harsh winters in cold gardens so we recommend that if your garden is exposed to grow this plant as a greenhouse or conservatory over winter.
  • Plants are self-fertile but produces heavier fruiting when cross-pollinated.
  • For a better chance of fruit, where temperatures fall below 5C, grow in cool greenhouse or conservatory (plants need cool but not freezing winter temperatures).
