Product Information

Transform your garden into a tropical paradise with this fantastically exotic Hardy Fan Palm. Chamaerops humilis, also known as Dwarf Fan Palms, are the palms you will see across the Mediterranean - and if ever there was a statement plant to bring a holiday feel to the garden, then this is it!

Despite boasting tropical good looks, fan palms are actually hardy in conditions down to -5C to -10C, so will withstand frost but benefit from shelter if temperatures drop too low. Large rounded leaves are cut into linear, fan-like segments, growing abundantly and forming a round, compact bush. Chamaerops humilis are perfect for pots on the patio or they'll make a striking spectacle in a sunny border.

Like all palms, Chamaerops are very easy to grow and love hot sunny weather, plus they become drought tolerant once established so are a great option for those who sometimes forget to water their plants!

Supplied as an established plant in a 17L pot, ready for planting. This will already stand roughly 120-140cm tall.

Please note: Delivery may take up to 14 days for this product. The approximate listed height of this variety and dimensions of the supplied nursery pot are subject to change on delivery, depending on seasonal conditions.

A delivery surcharge applies to this product as it is supplied in an XL Parcel. Surcharge is set at £39.99.

Top Tips

No need to prune, simply remove leaves when they yellow to form a trunk.

Care Information

  • For best chance of thriving, plant in moist, but well-drained soil in a warm and sheltered spot of the garden.
  • Sunny borders are ideal, but in colder regions, keep this palm growing in a large pot on the patio or balcony, moving it to an indoor, sheltered location for autumn.
  • Water regularly when in active growth and feed with a balanced fertiliser once a month. Water sparingly in winter.
  • If your palm becomes pot bound, pot on into containers 2.5cm larger when new growth starts in spring, using a compost with good drainage. In years when re-potting is not carried out, top-dress by removing 5cm of old compost from the top of the pot and replacing with fresh.
