Product Information

A vigorous evergreen standard with a spectacular display of colour-changing foliage. The leaves of 'Red Robin' gradually change across the seasons, most notably shining in a glossy, bright red, but also feature orange, purple, and bronze tones, before maturing to dark green.

Feel amazed straight away with this deeply impressive standard tree, delivered to you established and already roughly 1.9m tall! A great and versatile standard Photinia with a head of foliage above a clear stem, growing up to 30cm a year once in place and settled.

The newest shoots retain a dark red glow through the year. This fast growing variety produces springtime clusters of dainty white flowers for added interest, sometimes even followed by ornamental red fruit.

It is the bright, blood-red spring foliage that lifts 'Red Robin' above the rest - the colour is intense and unusual, particularly for so early in the year, and as an evergreen, it remains interesting regardless of the seasonal conditions.

Fully deserving its coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit, you can be sure this is a proven garden performer, guaranteed to be suitable for UK gardeners at every level of experience. You can therefore plant this in the garden with confidence, for stunning displays for many years to come.

Supplied as a standard tree, roughly 40-50cm in diameter and 1.9m tall, in an 18L pot, ready to plant.

Top Tips

Specimen plants can be pruned or clipped up to three times a year to encourage new red leaves to develop.

Care Information

  • Also known as the Christmas Berry, Photinia 'Red Robin' grows best in fertile, well-drained soil in sun or partial shade.
  • A sheltered position is best as the new growth can be scorched by drying wind or late frosts. Regular watering can cut down the risk of scorching.
  • Really easy to care for - any pruning is minimal, and is usually just formative. Carried out before mid-summer, it allows new growth to harden off before winter.
