Description

Introducing 'Red Rocket', the latest and the best colourful and compact hedge! The Weeping Bottlebrush is a Mediterranean revolution and a new version of the much-loved bottlebrush plant. But what is so special about 'Red Rocket' you ask? An eruption of bright red foliage lasting three months - from spring into summer each year.

Lemon-scented and evergreen foliage, this is the perfect compact hedge, and an exciting alternative to the widely grown Photinia 'Red Robin'. Drought and frost resistant, this 'Aussie' classic is perfect for the borders, but just as dramatic in pots too!

'Red Rocket' can be grown as a hedge or a shrub. Incredibly impactful, and more compact in growth than Photinia. It thrives in sunny, well-drained spots and handles drought and light frost with ease. That means no pampering required - just plant, water occasionally, and enjoy! Whether in borders, beds, or decorative patio containers, 'Red Rocket' adds year-round structure, texture, and bursts of colour, making it a versatile choice for any space.

If you want a garden showstopper that works hard with little fuss, Callistemon 'Red Rocket' is the plant for you. Low maintenance and strikingly beautiful, it's time to give your garden a fiery boost.

Supplied as an established plant in a 17cm pot, ready to plant.

Top Tips
  • Your Callistemon will look great in a mixed border, particularly if combined with other drought tolerant plants such as salvias and lavenders.
Care Information

Planting Advice for Callistemon Bottlebrush

  • Generally unfussy as to soil, poor soil benefits from the addition of plenty of organic matter.
  • Once established plants don't need special attention and are generally problem-free.
  • Pot-grown trees can be planted at any time of the year as long as the soil is not waterlogged or frozen.
  • Dig a square planting hole 3 x wider than the roots of the shrub you're planting and mix some well-rotted compost or manure with the soil from the hole and use this to re-fill once the shrub is in place.
  • Before planting soak container-grown shrubs thoroughly and allow to drain.
  • Remove your Callistemon from its pot and tease out a few of the roots.
  • Add Mycorrhizal fungi to the roots when planting to help plants establish quicker.
  • Place your tree in the hole at the same level at the pot, refill, firm, and water well.
  • Mulch around the base of the plant.
  • Plants can also be grown in a pot using a good quality soil-based compost.

Aftercare Advice for your Bottlebrush

  • Although drought-tolerant, Callistemon requires regular watering.
  • Feed with a general-purpose liquid feed in the growing season and top dress in the spring.
  • Callistemon can get out of hand under glass so restrictive pruning may be necessary to keep their shape.
  • A half-hardy shrub, give winter protection in colder, windier spots. A fleece cover and mulch will see them safely through the winter. Potted plants can be moved to a cool conservatory or greenhouse.
Delivery Information

Please allow us 3-5 working days to dispatch your order. Pre-ordered items will be sent as soon as possible after the date quoted and we'll generally ship your entire order with your pre-ordered items. When your order is dispatched, we'll send you another email with details of how to track it.

Most orders are sent on a fully-tracked courier service with Yodel. To avoid perishable items being stuck at depots and deteriorating, no signature is required, and our courier is asked to leave your order in a safe place on your property.

We'll send a tracking link when we dispatch your order, so you know when its due to arrive. Please note, once delivered we cannot be held responsible for loss or theft from your property. If you have any specific delivery instructions, please let us know - there's an option to enter a short message for the courier at the checkout.

Smaller, lighter, single-item orders may be sent through the post with Royal Mail - in which case no tracking is available.

Our experienced nursery team will always send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive when you plant them, so although most plants are very tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme frosts or heatwaves, we avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme weather is forecast, or over Bank Holiday weekends.

Please note, we cannot guarantee delivery on a certain day or time. Delivery to outlying postcode areas may take 1-2 days longer, dependent on your location.
